Does it "Works"? New for 2024, the Syndicate Works Series

Syndicate Works

Near the end of the 2022 waterski tournament season, Will Asher entered a face-off at the Travers Grand Prix with fellow world champion, Freddie Winter. This sudden-death match had Asher and Winter facing head to head at a rope length of 9.75m. Whichever skier comes out with the most buoys, wins, simply enough. Coming in just half a buoy shy of Nate Smith's long standing world record, Will Asher came away with a win of 2 buoys @9.75m.

This Grand Prix wrapped up as one of Asher's last tourneys of the season on his new pro model ski, the Syndicate Works 01. The Works 01 is the first edition of the Works Series, standing besides the Works 02, just recently introduced at the beginning of that 2022 season. For a Ski to record 2 buoys @9.75m in its first season, there must be something special about it, even when its skier is ranked first in the world for 2024.

What makes the Works 01 & 02 so special? Two things: Constrction & Shape.

Construction

Dave Wingerter, a member of the HO Sports Ski Team, reintroduced this revolutionary ski at the beginning of the 2024 season in his Tech Talks Video Series. In talking of the construction process, he said the following:

From a construction stand point, its a very simple build. In fact, its probably the most simple ski build out there. It does not have a plastic top, it does not have a plastic bottom; my goal is total minimalism. I just want it to be made of carbon fiber, high-density rigid PVC foam, and resin. It's the most beautiful high performance ski design... By taking stuff away, we made a better performing ski.

The Works 02 was groundbreaking in its introduction for the 2022 Season and as the saying goes, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

Shape

As it is with all waterskis, there are 3 components to the shape of a ski: Rocker, Concave, and Profile. By altering these 3 elements of a ski, you will change the performance by speed, drag, and responsiveness.

The Works 01 and the Works 02 both feature the same construction and materials but each ski has a different shape in regards to those 3 main elements.

The Works 01 features a "Medium-Width Profile", a "Low-Tip Rocker", and a "Medium-Volume Concave." These 3 aspects create a water ski that rolls from edge to edge with ease, a ski that rides high on the water, and a ski that provides maximum stability at high speeds.

The Works 02 features a "Wide" Profile, a "High-Tip Rocker", and a "High-Volume Concave." These 3 different aspects create a ski that demands a lot of force on the turns but in return, delivers maximum speed when going from buoy to buoy.

These 2 skis were created with the same goal in mind, to help skiers reach their highest potential when it comes to shortening the rope. Whether you are in the same league as Will Asher and Jaimee Bull, or just surpassing 22' off/16.00m, this ski will help take you to your next level.
